INVOcell is an intravaginal chamber that holds an embryo until it’s ready to be transferred into the uterus. The process is similar to IVF but rather than the embryo growing in a lab, it grows in the intravaginal device until the embryo is ready to be transferred. Doing IUI treatment can give you a pregnancy rate of 10-15% at best, but putting an embryo in the uterus raises pregnancy rates to over 50% according to this video. Patients ask me all the time, what other treatments are available when IUI isn’t successful. This may just be it! I think of it as a treatment between IUI and IVF without the cost of IVF. The downsides: you wouldn’t be able to preserve your fertility (freeze embryos) or genetically test them. It is very exciting to see this new technology showing such promising results.
