Medical Billing Specialist + Receptionist
Job Description
What You’ll Do
- Collect payment from patients.
- Send invoices, follow up, and ensure patients are making payments.
- Identify and correct coding errors and discrepancies if labs aren’t ordered correctly.
- Send invoices to patients for labs.
- Communicate fees to patients in advance of their appointments.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA.
- Answer patient questions about fees and provide clarity.
- Collaborate with our Billing Lead to resolve issues and keep our finances strong.
- Actively look for ways to make our billing process more efficient and effective.
- Greet and room patients with a warm and professional demeanor.
- Keep our team informed of incoming patients and visitors via our internal chat channel.
- Efficiently schedule appointments and reschedule as needed.
- Address patient inquiries, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued.
- Ensure the waiting area is organized and clean, with a sufficient supply of water and snacks.
- Manage incoming calls, screen, take messages, and direct callers appropriately.
What You Bring

- 3+ years of relevant experience in both receptionist and medical billing roles (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant and experience with an EMR system is preferred.

The Details
- You’ll work 35+ hours a week during our operating hours, including 8-hour shifts and weekends as needed. Our office hours are from Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4pm, and Sat-Sun from 8am-11am.
- This is an in-office position at our San Ramon location (94583), so a reliable commute is a must.
- Compensation ranges from $20 – $27 per hour, with opportunities for advancement.

Not Mandatory, But a Plus
- Experience working in the fertility field and/or women’s health
- BLS Certification
