Clomid can improve sperm counts for Men?

May 11, 2010 | Fertility Care

Yes, it’s true. Men can take clomid too!

A study just out  shows that the combination of clomid and vitamin E can significantly increase pregnancy rates and sperm counts in certain situations.

I’ve been prescribing Clomid for men with low sperm counts for several years. The side effects men experience from Clomid is nothing like what women experience.  Men won’t have hot flashes, night sweats or bloating. I think this is one of the most common concerns I hear about.

This is how clomid works for men:

Clomid works to increase levels of FSH and LH. These hormones are secreted by the brain and stimulate sperm production.

I typically tell my patients that a dose of 25-50 mg per day may improve sperm counts after a few months. Clomid may work in a shorter amount of time but if after a month, there is no improvement, don’t despair – wait and re-evaluate.
